Scientists Predict Another Tsunami!

After two years of an earthquake off the western Indonesia that caused a monster tsunami, scientists are expecting the same thing to happen again in the next few decades when the waves will hit again with full force.

They are also predicting that a major part of the Sumatra island’s that has a heavily populated coast will again be hit by this giant wall of water.

This low-lying town is populated with around 900,000 people. Eventhough they started mapping out the evacuation routes and educating the public, but still, authorities fear that around 60,000 will die, unable to outrun the waves even if they get a quick warning and flee.

Now the Sumatra Island is home to more than half the tsunami’s left nearly 230,000 dead and missing. Warnings of another tsunami have increased the efforts to establish a warning system covering the Indian Ocean rim like the network of high-tech buoys in the Pacific that alerts Japan, the United States and other nations of sudden tidal changes.

The worst-affected countries have begun installing sirens on threatened coasts and three buoys with sensors capable of detecting waves generated by seismic activity are in the water, but the network is several years from completion. This stands to prove that if nature is against us there is nothing we can do to stop it.
